Weird mic issue

When im in chat and when i test my mic it sounds like someone is messing with the volume knob on a speaker. If i do a steady "aaahhhhhhhhhh" the volume will go up and down at a consistent rate (1 second normal 1 second low or silent). My mic works perfectly fine in game and with OBS. I've tried all kinds of different settings, changing usb ports, logging out and back in, restarting my pc. nothing is working. i know discord has its days working and not so working, but its never been like this (for me at least) any ideas? perhaps an update? My mic is a Hyper X Quadcast if that helps any.
