    Discord has always been slow at listening to it's community. Check how many highly up-voted suggestions are in these forums, but they give us stickers, basically bigger emojis :| They will take a while a while until they realize it's a real problem, we saw it happen with zombie accounts trying to infect more, we made sure our community is updated while living in constant fear of accidentally clicking one of those scam links. But they haven't realized yet.

    I have some suggestions:
    Geo-restrict logins, logging in from a location you haven't logged in before should require an extra step, verification code through email.
    Better authentication, definitely, there are more secure ways that the ones used right now for request authentication.

    They have such a slow response time and are more active in replying to my friends about the situation saying that it's being handled when I have yet to get an update or even a message from the person it was handed off to. 

    I agree with you both honestly, we need more security not stickers.

    They are useless and I hate to say it but chances are you will lose your account. My daughter got caught by similar situation end of May, we literally reported within a  minutes or two of scammer getting control and yet very slow responses initially (first week) then 3 weeks of nothing. At that point I contacted trying to get it resolved which seemed to get action on hers. Only thing it was negative action telling her they wouldn’t restore control as she willingly gave up access.  Discord seem to protect these scamming criminals rather than their genuine honest clients. They sure could take some lessons on customer service and SUPPORT (support being the important word) from the likes of Steam who in regard to the same scamming incident restored her account within 6 hours as they could tell by using their backend system eg IP addresses etc that her account had been compromised. 

    Oh and now that account is showing as deleted whether by the scammer or discord is unclear but until the other day it was still active so am betting it was discord probably as punishment for calling them out on their crappy support and manner of dealing with scammers gaining control.

    I've gotten screenshots from my friends of the hacker trying to act like me to hack another user. It's ridiculous, I gave out word to all my friends that I can still contact but I've been using this platform for nearly 6 years, my friends list is quite full, the hacker is probably having a field day and I've contacted them on twitter, through tweets and direct messages. Reported a few tickets and no response still. Back in 2015 Discord was a nice chill place for people to be but nowadays, discord has become a hackers paradise through Discords shitty Security System.

    Scribbles yep exactly she had been on for many years and same her girlfriend who was with her at time was quickly telling everyone as did I to the server we both are on. They absolutely don’t want to accept their policies or lack of appropriate policies is a hacker/scammer paradise.

    Sunny870 , My account was hacked around 4 days ago, Emailed discord support numerous times, Tweeted discord on twitter, Tweeted jason on twitter, Emailed jasons personal email, I've done everything possible to try get help, I've had my account for over 4 years, Years and years of memories, Friends, everything, now gone, Did you ever get help on getting your account back and how long did it take. thank you so much

    Sorry for not having replied lately, I deleted the account I posted with as it was connected to the hacked acct. But honestly, it's been since the post was made and still I have had no progress on my old acct. If anything they've just sent me the same cookie cutter emails and I'm lowkey fed up with Discord.

    The system is flawed, they work so hard making new things people don't need, like stickers. But they've not focused on keeping their members safe. I've lost my acct where I had memories, friends who I can't get into contact with again and further more. Sadly it's just horrendous support.

    JeniArts Hi. I really hope that you'll get notified with this message. A friend of mine got their account locked by a scam bot. As soon as they clicked the link sent to them, the account got hacked and my friend can no longer access the account. This happened yesterday and they have received a reply from Discord, however it wasn't that helpful. Reading more into it made me really scared for their account and I'm just super worried that they'll lose it. Is there any way that they can bring it back somehow?

    I just began school so I couldn't really check, hope you're well. Discord hasn't replied and it's been 2 months tomorrow. I am honestly displeased by their lack of responses on these hacks. They've barely done anything to even warn others, most servers work to warn people before even discord is aware. I still haven't gotten mine back, so I'm unsure.

    Thanks for your update JeniArts. Hopefully you're doing well at school. My friend has been getting replies from discord but they're just stuff like "We've sent this ticket to the support team, someone from there will give you a reply soon enough" and that's about it unfortunately. I really hope that somehow Discord replies to you and to my friend as well. If you haven't given up yet, you can try again and send one last ticket to them and hopefully they'll respond to you. I wish you the best of luck and to everyone who has experienced this or know someone who did.

    Hi again! Here to update the situation,

    So if you've lost your account and they haven't done anything within 30 days of a perma-deletion request they cannot get your account back. They took about 3 months to get back to me with this message.

    "It unfortunately looks like the account in question has been permanently deleted. All data associated with deleted accounts is deleted or anonymized 14-30 days after beginning the deletion process for that account. Once an account has been permanently deleted it is gone from our servers and we'd have no record of that account existing nor would we have any way to recover it."

    Imagine having this system in place but never responding to these issues as they need to. I've lost so much time, money put into it, and even memories I'll never recover cause they couldn't be bothered to reply quicker.

    Hey Jeni! Thanks for your update.
    It's weird though, I don't recall seeing any activity with the account ever since it got hacked but it's still there and I can contact it whenever I want. This is just odd to me and I hate how unreliable Discord is with such important situations like these. I'm sorry that you lost the account and I can totally feel you with your "I've lost so much time, money put into it, and even memories I'll never recover cause they couldn't be bothered to reply quicker." message. My friend's account was made back in 2016 or so and it had *so* much stuff. It's just really sad. Thank you for your time Jeni and I hope that somehow Discord will be able to provide its users with better customer service + actual help.

    Hello again JaxDobba, I try to keep this post as relevant to updates as possible because you never know who you could help!

    Oh? As in it's not gone online or messaged people you know or just it's there and hasn't been deleted? I agree! I felt that I could trust this company as prior my friend who had lost their account got it back within the month. My other friend who had their account hacked which ended up hacking mine is still active and trying to take more accounts. I had made mine in 2017, so yes all the memories, time spent and just things you might want to look back on are lost. Not to forget being an early supporter, which makes it even sadder to have lost an account where I even supported discord. I hope that even though my account was lost and I've emailed them many times and have heard nothing back that your friend can get theirs back. I hope that they do too! Stay safe and stay well always!

    Well, staff didn't help much at all... the credit paid can't be refunded or accredited to my new account and everything is just gone. All I've gotten are automated replies and I am just tired.

    I am very sorry to hear that Jeni. This is just depressing to see and what's even more depressing is Discord's lack of response and care as you mentioned. It's truly sad that once you get hacked, you're pretty much done unless you're really lucky. I appreciate all your comments and updates for this topic and I just... I don't know what to say other than I wish you the best of luck. I'm a positive person myself I'd usually say stuff like "Don't give up!" or "Keep on going and hopefully one day they'll response" but honestly I just don't know what to say. It's just really sad to see and I wish you nothing but the best in the future! Hopefully with won't happen again and hopefully Discord one day will read this and provide help for future members who might get hacked.

    Did you guys got your account back? Discord responded to me and said that they have escalated it further and will update me, but it's been more than 48 hours they haven't replied yet.

    Been 20 days since it got escalated. The person who has my account proudly shows all my connected accounts and all.

    My account is also hacked. Unless discord decides to do something, there is no way I can get my account back unless I pay some sort of ransom.

    Update on my 2 months ago comment I made regarding my friend. Discord somehow replied back after 2 whole months of waiting and managed to revert the email back to the original owner. I honestly don't know how this information can help everyone in need but maybe this gives some hope I honestly just hope that Discord becomes faster with y'all. I wish you all the best of luck.

    I also have the same situation and so far have two tickets made. They have responded in the same way, the only different is the name of the sender and a few word. Which make me think, they are bots. Any advice you guys can give me?

    I got my account hacked like 5 hours ago and submitted about two tickets in the next two hours, I had the account since 2016 and honestly reading your comments is making me very depressed, should I just request they delete it instead of trying to get it back or what ?

    Please do not give up! For my case they sure took their time but I'd say that it's always worth it to keep them updated on what's going on and keep sending them every week or so. It won't take that much time from you. For my case the issue was resolved and hopefully it'll be the same case for everyone. Do not give up!

    my account was hacked and stolen on sep 26th it is now oct 23 and I haven't gotten it back. I submitted a ticket and only got back the bot response of "our team is working on it" then I got an email saying my ticket was closed then I got a huge amount of spam saying, hay discord legal here then a bunch of stuff followed by follow up with you're the previous ticket. I got about 30 of these in one day I tried submitting a new ticket and they never get a response what can I do?

    Hi. I think Discord has not changed their ways at all. A friend of mine got their account hacked. THe hacker contacted me through that account. Now the funny thing is that my friend got their account back immediately almost. Took mere hours. While I am still sitting here on my alt account and getting radio silence. Tho two days ago they sent me this p.o.s. message on my ticket:

    "Hello,
     
    Thank you for providing the information about your account.
     
    We’ve escalated your ticket for the team to look into further. Unfortunately, we are unable to give you an estimate time of our response or answer questions about your account, but our team is actively working on these requests.
     
    Please note that submitting multiple reports regarding the same issue may hamper our team's investigation into your report, and slows down how quickly we can help other users.
     
    Thank you for your patience and a team member will get back to you when they can.

    Discord Trust & Safety"

    I have been waiting for over four days for my account to be returned to me… Going to contact Finnish Customer Protection Agency for advices on how to proceed with this all.
