Idea To Help Those Who Have Had 2FA Lockouts
There has been many people that have lost access to their accounts because they, for whatever reason, lost access to their 2FA codes (I myself including after my phone broke and I apparently forgot to get the backup codes (and I forgot I had 2FA on)). It has been a few weeks since my lockout and I've been trying to find out if I did happen to save my codes somewhere, but I have been trying to get my suggestion out there.
Noticing how Discord allows you to add both your email and your phone number to your account, I thought why not have a option for people who have lost their codes to get codes via email/text so that they may recover their accounts? Just so we are clear I am not talking about replacing the current 2FA system that is in place, I am recommending a way for people who end up in this unfortunate situation to be able to get their accounts back.
I really hope something like this becomes reality for Discord, I for one know that I'd like to see my friends and Discord servers again and I am sure that others who have been locked out of their accounts would too.

This;sadly i also forgot to remove 2FA before resetting my phone.And well,after i notice that it was really late. No backup codes too,i'm hoping they come up with a good option to prove someone's ownership of that account,and return it back no problem.

Shocking and Torturous how they don't help users who have been 2FA lockedout. They want me and others to suffer alot it seems by not helping us get access to our accounts.. how haven't they solved this already?? every other company helps you if you can prove that you are the owner and can send you sms or email verification (steam,google,blizzard,jagex,facebook). I got 2FAlockout this month after getting a new phone and uninstalled google authenticator and i got auto logged out from my PC never happened before i never manually log out.. cause i thought i had it to my new phone when i tranferred everything from old phone but no it was empty. 1. I know my email and got access to it. 2. i know my password. 3. i had verified my phone number to the account in april this year that is still my phone number. 4. I use the same PC as i did when i made the account only computer ive ever been logged into discord is my own. 5. i live at the same house i did in april 2017 when i made the account. 6. I had support help in January 2019 about my notfication problems on my account. 7. My email address that i registered on and still use is the same as my real life name. 8. i had added my credit card details and bought nitro on the account. There are 8 things that can prove im the owner of the account i could send picture of my drivers licence to prove ID as it got my name on it obviously, that is the same name i registered my account with in april 2017... i got so much proof it's my account and they still probably won't deactivate 2FA or send a one time code to sign in with to my email address or phone.. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED DISCORD PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!! i have spent so many hours on my account over 4 years so many memories that is lost for me and everyone else that are 2FA lockedout.

Agreed Leet, it is like they don't care about the people who were on Discord, made a lot of friends, memories and communities, then lost their accounts because of the flawed 2FA system. If they would simply send you the codes through your verified phone or, even better, send it to the email you registered with, things would be way more simpler. That Discord account of mine was a huge part of my life, and it is because of the lockout that what I had built has been ripped away; the memories, friends, and communities, all gone. It is a bit of a let down to not only myself but a big amount of others who have suffered a lockout I am sure.
I have emailed them several times as well on the matter, as well as emailing recommendations to them relating to solutions to the 2FA lockout problems, then they say they'll pass it along only for it to not even be looked at most likely. They then say for me to post the matter here and even then it doesn't get noticed. It's unfortunate and I hope they do something and stop forgetting about those of us who were locked out.
