Yes, it was already a post, but its 3 years old now. at the date i am writing this. And there are still people, with not that much Mobile Data, like myself. Yes i can surf even after i used all of mine flatrate but its very slow. And when it comes to discord nothing will load. Literally nothing, no message in or out. It would be awesome to be able to disable images or gifs with one click im the settings. maybe also profil pictures and server images. Because think that way. You own a prepaid card. And last time you used discord, was in an art channel. well theres the problem, you cant see how big a image is. I often got images in my dms or on a server which are 30mb and up. This just doesnt work for people who are not in wifi. Or maybe you just wanna read the chat about an image you posted, but everytime you get into that channel, the image reloads. and whoosh another 20 mb gone. Discord is everytime i look on my apps which used my mobile network when i am outside, on the top one spot. And it could be also used in the streamer mode too! Imagine showing something in discord, but you wont want to show imaged because they could be of yourself. easy as that! Maybe this time, it could work. It would help many people.

Specifically, I'd like to be able to change media settings to "Wi-Fi only" instead of "on" or "off" specifically for the reason described. Sure, load the 8MB GIFs if I'm on Wi-Fi, but not if I'm on cell data. And/or do what Facebook Messenger Lite does: Show a very lightweight thumbnail and clearly display the file size of the image.

I agree. I checked my mobile data consumption chart recently and discord has managed to use more data than YouTube, somehow...
