Discord overlay 404 error covers entire game screen.

My Discord overlay had a 404 error today. I don't care that much that it had that error but I really don't think the overlay should take over my entire game when it does. The only way to get out of this was to Alt + F4 out of my game.

    I have the same Problem atm. 

    While Playing FF XIV :)  So i need to deactivate the Overlay.

    Unfortunately I had to turn off the overlay hope there will be a fix

    Yup, disabling the overlay is the only fix so far.

    Turning of the overlay didn't work for me. So I just Uninstalled it from my computer and it works fine now.

    BTW all you do is go to WINDOWS firewall security and disable the REPUTATION BASED PROTECTION under the App & Browser control. Worked for me instantly

    I turned off the in-game overlay and it fixed the issue for me. Another option is to log out of the Discord app and use the web browser version.

    My REPUTATION BASED PROTECTION is already disabled (never turned it on) and still had the issue with the overlay.

    yeah it is happening in every game I have overlay turned on for so I just turned off the overlay.

    Go into your user settings to "activity status" and see if your game's overlays are disabled. Mine was disabled somehow and I just enabled them again and everything is fine for now. It won't hurt to check it :)

    Maybe they fixed the problem which is why turning overlays back on didn't prevent running the game.

    Thinking about it is kinda scary. It being a 404 error, that kinda means discord was looking to make a connection to somewhere outside the users connection... AND that failing that also means the game is blocked from working. There NEVER should be any situation where ONE application can prevent another application from running... yet here we have discord literally shutting down FFXIV (in my case) because of some internal error on it's side.
