Read message history time setting

Current state: The setting "read message history" blocks the client from fetching messages that were sent in the past and only shows new messages raised after the user opened a channel.

The problem I would like to resolve: Right now if a channel has read message history disabled, a user who joins doesn't see any message history. Often messages or images are referenced in the conversation after the fact but most often only for a short period in time. This causes users which have access to the channel to still feel left out and forces other users to repost the messages in question. I would like to have the read message history disabled for people who are not around as much on the discord, but the current implementation makes it too cumbersome to use effectively. 

Proposed solution: I would like to have a setting that enables clients to fetch messages x amount of minutes/days from the past in addition to subscribing to new messages when a user interacts with a channel.
