Way to save and switch profiles quickly

Okay... One more. This time for mobile:

Again, trying to minimize extra "clutter", but this could enable the user to quickly switch between accounts by tapping their avatar in the bottom, right-hand corner, then simply tap the avatar of the (already logged in on that device) user they want to view. Still far from "perfect", but I've spent enough time on the desktop UI. ;)

My advice would be to emulate what other apps do. Yes you could implement it a variety of ways but idk why the detractors bring this up when there is an established pattern like it somehow adds a layer of complication. In every other app there is a dropdown or snippet of a sidebar that shows which accounts you are logged into and you can change which account you're signed into. No other aspect of the app changes in ***any way***. There is no aggregated DMs, nothing. Don't make it hard on yourself. Look at reddit, twitter, instagram, etc. Stop making things complicated for no reason

Allow me to tell a story of how I hope Discord does NOT implement this.

My company uses MS Teams for internal communication. So does the outsourced IT company we use. So does a 3rd party consultant company we use. All three companies have their own Microsoft 'tenancy'. As part of my internal IT role, I need to talk to all three companies, and so I have guest accounts in the tenancies of the external companies.

So that's effectively three accounts that MS Teams needs to let me switch between. They do this by way of a dropdown to select which account is active. However:

    • The switching process an annoying amount of time. I suspect in the background it is just logging me out and then logging me in to the other account with stored credentials / tokens.
    • When I go to talk to our external IT people, I look like I'm offline to my own company. This has led to people calling me up accusing me of not working.
    • When someone in my own company says something, I don't know about it until MS Teams sends me an email ONE HOUR LATER.

Discord can do better. Allowing one app to have multiple accounts logged in at one time would be the best solution that would serve everyone's use case, and so long as we're given enough information to always know which account we are at a time, and to organise our servers nicely (or worst case, have them automatically segregated for us), it shouldn't be too confusing for the people who just want a fast way to log out of one account and into another. And frankly, if that's what you want, just use a password manager...

I would love this, even on PC so it makes it easier and more user friendly then using two Discord clients

yes!!! i very much agree!! ALSO if this were to be implemented it would be nice to have like some kind of notification pop up every time you open discord that says something like “you are logged into [account name]!” because the amount of times i’ve accidentally posted something on the wrong account on other websites is countless, haha

It is really quite amazing that this was posted over 2 years ago and they still have not implemented this.  Every other app has this.  Why is Discord so behind the times??

@ChrisG97 I don't think Shift is a viable option considering literally every app other than Gmail requires a yearly subscription.

If this get added, please don't forget to add a Session Manager (https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360036537432) too!

we need this as I have 3 accounts (1 work, 1 YouTube and 1 just myself) I have different discord apps on my phone but they take up a lot of memory (from app cloner on Android) if we had this I would use discord more tbh

This should be a little bit like secondary E-Mail adresses. On my computer, I can merge them into the same app being logged in in both accounts.

I'd like to point out that 'allow fast switching between accounts' is not at all the same as 'allow simultaneous login to multiple accounts', which I think is what most people here actually want.

And it's not at all the same as 'allow multiple identities on a single account' which is what I want.

Even if switching tokens were that simple, that's not what I want! I want support for multiple simultaneous accounts. Or ideally multiple 'personas' on one account (since I might be more willing to get Nitro if I only had to pay for it once).

Yes I know that's not what this suggestion says, but my own suggestion in which I proposed this was closed by Discord staff, saying it was a 'duplicate' of this one.

    A very necessary feature

  • effectivement ça serait pratique pour moi qui ait 3 comptes et éviter d'avoir quarante-douze instance de Discord ouverts

Sounds good honestly, I think this option is obvious for 21st century

Somehow I have managed to create 2 discord accounts with the same name, but different #                I want to log into the other # and can not locate the password.  So I simply select 'forgot password' and changed my password for that account. NOW the # changed!    How can this be corrected/prevented from happening again?

I suggested it to them a while ago but I think they're ignoring me :/

But yes this should be a thing

Will this be implemented someday? The Thread is 1 year old. I wish it so much also.

I do believe it’s a matter of time before either discord implements this, or falls out of favour for something better. Maybe people go back to slack?

That being said, it is not as simple as ‘adopt this thing that twitter does’. From what I’ve learnt about discord, they don’t rush into things. It is done the right way, or it isn’t done at all. I hope this infrastructure is on their pipeline, because I don’t think single accounts is sustainable long-term for many of us, but I’m not expecting it done tomorrow.

So instead of doing this wildly requested feature that has been asked for since a year ago and every other major social media app does discord decided to completely re-engineer an already working ui into a completely unusable one for their mobile users...that's my nitro money being put to good use....

This seriously needs to be added, I have two discord accounts both managing and testing a server, this would be useful because I can't stand using the web client...

  • ilicktoesformoney

Yeah seriously we need this. Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Reddit already have similar features so frankly I’m surprised that it’s taken so long to implement this at all, especially considering the demand.

@stelard Sorry, just to clarify are you saying you are disagreeing with *all* of what I said or just the family part?

Because I only comment on family since that's what others have said they need or have struggles with. I.e. They have to sign their brother out when using his PC. Even with me I have my computer and when someone I have as a guest comes over, they have to sign me out every time rather than just sign in alongside me.

So having it that you still have one account signed in but multiple profiles doesn't resolve this use case.
And my point was having it so that you can easily switch between simultaneous user accounts IS a solution to BOTH use cases.

Supporting both could have it's place. But as you say... It's been so long without *anything* so gotta go with the case that suits the most people. And as it is already, people have multiple accounts. I think if they made it multiple profiles one account sign in then they'd have to have a tool for merging of accounts in order to avoid making users have to create a new profile and link ALL servers from the other account (which is extra work to implement a merge tool).

only want this cause my bf and I share a pc and both need to sign in semi frequently. just an option to choose a profile and enter your 2fa for it would be amazing!

I really want a feature with multiple accounts - I have one discord account dedicated to gaming stuff and another for irl communications. Hell I even want to split my gaming discord into two, one for game server chat (focusing on a few games only) and one for more general gaming (not active but used for looking at notifications, otherwise my main account would be swarmed by them). I personally use 3 youtube accounts for a similar reason, and the fact that you have to logout and login everytime you switch accounts is pretty troublesome.

I really want a feature like this implemented because me and my brother share a computer and it's very annoying needing to login in every time. Would be better if there was an option to have some sort of PIN number for better privacy when switching accounts, which is still quicker than logging in with all your details.

This feature is useful yes to separate between games. I can have one account for game A, and another for game B.
