Move Messages
It would be really useful for moderators to be able to move messages between text channels in a guild.
This could involve a new permission: 'MOVE_MESSAGES'.
Some concerns about this idea have been raised, but do not seem to be fatal. These are touched upon as follows.
Could this be abused?
It could only be abused to the same extent as existing powers such as kicks, bans, and message deletions. Guilds could have the ability to control who wields the power, preferably through a dedicated MOVE_MESSAGES permission. They could also monitor its use through the Audit Log. If the power were to be abused under these conditions, the issue would seem to lie with the powerholders in the guild in question, rather than the power itself.
Could members be confused?
If a message is moved without any indication, this could be confusing, as members may not realise that their message has been moved. This could be helped by having an automated system message which takes the place of the moved message to explain that the message has been moved.

Please add this feature! We need it!

It is not only at the point of being actually ludicrous that this feature is not implemented, ignoring it at this point is showing true arrogance and a lack of care for ones customers.

This is a fairly basic admin tool that online forums use often and is much needed. I assume it must require some significant refactoring of how messages are handled on Discord, since this hasn't already been implemented.
5 -
Uh no thanks, I don't think admins should be able to move messages, thats basically saying "you posted in the wrong" channel on a whole other level, kind of frustrating that people have a problem with that in the first place, just delete it if its in "the wrong channel" and let me decide what chat I am trying to talk in

EatThatPie, not everyone wants their discord server to look like an unorganized shit hole. Admins should absolutely be able to move messages. The fact that you would rather have an admin delete your post versus moving it to a proper place is a bit strange. Just my opinion.

It would take about 2 seconds of typing for our bots to kick you, ETP... then if you wanted to whine about it, none of our mods would even be questioned for banning you if you insisted on continuing to spam channels with the wrong subject.
If you don't like that, you're free to go start your own server.2 -
Just throwing in my support for this. Nearly every major forum platform has the ability for moderators to relocate conversations that are off-topic or for whatever reason, should be somewhere else. It's ridiculous that a platform like Discord doesn't have this, as it's a daily problem in larger servers that I'm in.

Bumping for support

Needing this :'(

Bumping this again. Discord please address this!
5 -
Agreed. Please add this feature.
5 -
Bump would love to have this
5 -
Just googled how to do it...guess you can't.....why?
5 -
Seriously 1 year already and this is still not implemented/ supported? I was bragging about how cool Discord is because you can do so much with it.... then tried to move a post from a channel to another and I see there's NO way?? Come on guys!!
6 -
If this doesn't constitute a most requested feature, what does? The post has recived daily bumps now for a year.
3 -
ONE year (?)... try THREE+ years... go back to Pg 1 of this thread and check the dates.
3 -
One way this could be done with less chance of abuse is if a role in charge of organizing the thread decided to move it to another channel

I specifically requested it require moderator or admin permission... but making it a permission that could be added to any role would be fine, too!
3 -
How exactly is this not a feature? Doesn't every communication forum have a way of moving messages?
4 -
Bumping this. Would be nice!
3 -
I don't understand why this isn't possible already.
5 -
Please, this'll be very useful, i wrote an entire tutorial about a thing, and i want to move all stuff in a new dedicated channel... and i can't do it... it is very frustrating, because i have to repost all again

I was so sure it had to be my error when I couldn't figure out how to do it.
At least tell us why you refuse to implement this after three years of your users asking.
4 -
I wonder it needs that much time.
1100 votes, still no official response, like "guys we can't / don't want to do this because.... XXX"
That's real pity.

@YannisDran - feel free to tweet at @discordapp about it, and retweet mine

Bump! This feature is essential. I can't believe it isn't already a thing.
3 -
So... is this ever going to be implemented? @devs - "no" is also an answer...
4 -
Something tells me I'll be getting reply notifications on this comment thread with more frustrated comments for another three years...
5 -
This would help for organisation posts in read-only information channels.

There are a plethora of reasons this should be a feature, most of which have been listed here for over a year. The cons are actually mitigated by the fact that this would be controlled by an Admin.
Hey I'm a Project Manager, I'll manage this project for free!
