Setting to turn of gif autoplay so it only plays when you hover/click

I find gifs that are automatically playing really distracting, especially because most of them loop with a sharp cut.

It would be helpful to have any of the following options:

• A setting where gifs are automatically still, but with an icon in the corner indicating it's a gif. When you hover/click/tap, the gif will play. When you end the hover or click/tap again, it stops.
• A setting to only run a gif once and you have to click/hover/tap to play it again/indefinitely.
• A button to hide gifs once viewed
