macOS app does not allow notification settings until you've received one

When first installing the macOS app, you are unable to adjust notification settings until after you have received at least one. The annoying part is that you are unable to remove the red badge icon until you have access, forcing users to ping a friend in order to get notification settings. Would it be possible to have Discord ask for notification permissions upon first boot?
