Self Bots (They're not always malicious!)
Please consider allowing self-bots, or some form of them. They can be a very fun way to interact with discord. Perhaps you could have a custom type of API key for when people want to use self-bots rather than using a discord client, because you could then throttle certain actions and perhaps automatically moderate some. In my case, I want to create a command that only I can run, which will replace the original message with an emoticon. \,,/(^_^)\,,/
Not allowing self bots seems like such a missed opportunity to allow programmers of all abilities to have some fun and truly enjoy discord in their own way. Discord is an amazing application but not allowing for this sort of API support goes against my love for the program. The only reason that I even occasionally use twitter is because of the API. For example: https://twitter.com/
This would make discord feel like a lot more of a welcoming place to programmers and open up so many fun possibilities. Please consider this. YouTube removed annotations, because they didn't have mobile support, instead of adding mobile support. This feels very much like the same situation, but with simple automatic throttling and moderation. If a self-bot API token (discussed previously) sends two-hundred messages in less than a second, then simply flag it and disable the self-bot API token temporarily. Please don't disallow all kinds of self-bots; not all are malicious. :(

Can you explain what you mean by "self-bot"?

Self-bots are bots that run on your own user account and only respond to your own messages (basically a user's personal bot that works in all servers), they used to be very common but are no longer allowed

This cam be abused too much. People dont know if you are bot or not. As i programmer I would too, be very glad to see this, but considering all risks, i dont think that his is gonna happen.

If they were to roll out a custom type of API key for self bots, discord could add an indicator for self bots.

There is already an API for discord bots.
There is no interet in 2 API for 1 service.
If discord allow selfbots, they will have limitation, and selfbots will be normal discord bots.-2 -
They could go through an api like normal discord bots, but only allow it to work on servers where the user has a "ALLOW_SELFBOT" flag set to true

I’d like to see this

Yeah, I don't see any reason to ban self bots at all really. Things like spamming are against the rules anyway, so this ban literally only impacts people who would use self-bots for harmless purposes.
