Discord Nitro is too expensive and we need to talk about it more

I'm all for supporting Discord, and I love using Discord Nitro. However, for what the service provides I don't think it warrants $100 a year. Basic features like a longer word limit, 50MB uploads, profile customisation should not be locked behind a paywall. You don't see other social media like Twitter charging you to have a profile header. An 8MB limit is ridiculous considering most phones take photos of a bigger size, on top of how most files we'd usually share are likely not under 8MB. Furthermore, there should only be one tier for Nitro. $10 a month for basic features is greedy. You don't see Microsoft Teams or Zoom charging you for custom webcam backgrounds. $5 a month should be enough to have animated profile pictures, animated headers, server boosts, profiles for each server. The only thing I can see that warrants $10 is a game library, which has been abandoned for whatever reason. I hope this doesn't fall on deaf ears but it seems likely, given how the rebrand occurred much to a majority of people's disapproval. I just hope we talk about this enough that Discord takes action.

    Agreed. I would like to support discord but the asking price is absolutely insane for nothing in return. The same fee gets me: A gym membership, Spotify Premium. Similar fees get so much more.

    The discord pricing is absolutely insane. I think they would succeed more if they made it $2 and $5 month respectively. Even 5 is a lot considering how little nitro actually does. The only bit worth paying for (and understandable) is higher quality streaming, but who even wants that? Nobody is using discord as their primary streaming platform.
