[BUG] Vietnamese Telex Texting in window 11 is broken when typing in Discord

The Microsoft typing tool for Vietnamese is completely broken on Windows 11 when typing in Discord. It duplicates every character before them and makes a mess afterwards.

This issue has also been addressed on the Microsoft forum (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/typing-in-vietnamese-in-windows-11-cause-me/873d191d-06b0-4f89-bb90-d92f8ac058cd), but the problem has yet to be fixed even after many months. So, I can confidently say that Microsoft Developers has completely ignored this problem. Therefore, I am posting here to ask for Discord's help instead.

The issue doesn't seem to affect other apps besides Discord. I can type normally on other platforms like Facebook, YouTube, etc., and the problem doesn't appear. It only appears when I try to type on Discord, so I could say that this problem is mainly on Discord's side.

Here's how to reproduce the bug:

  • Download Vietnamese Telex in the Windows 11 typing tool.
  • Go to Discord and type anything; it doesn't necessarily have to be a Vietnamese word. Any English word/phrase can reproduce the bug too.
  • For example: i want to type in chat: "today is a beautiful day". After you type the first word, press the spacebar and start typing the next word "is". The bug will appear and make your first word look like "ttodayi."

I hope this problem gets fixed in the near future, because it's very frustrating to chat now on Discord in Vietnamese.

    They said feedback contributes greatly to their decision-making, etc. So now we Vietnamese are stuck here with a broken bug which make typing a lot frustrating and we must farming for upvotes and hoping it gets fixed soon, lmao.

    I am having the same issues. While alternate third-party apps for typing Vietnamese are available and bug-free, Windows native language input methods is essential for working in environment where the third-party apps are not available. 

    I hope the Discord team can understand and are/start working on the fixing of the bug.

    Go to settings > accessibility > Use legacy chat input. Turn it on

    Yeah that will fix the bug, but vietnamese will never get access to any new input feature.

    And consider the word “legacy”, they may remove this feature in the future.

    This only delay the inevitable. Unless Discord staff do something.
