Pinned messages icon
Instead of having the red circle be an indicator that "there are unread pinned messages", have the entire pin turn red and be grayed out when someone has read all of them. It would be more noticeable for the eye if there is important information located in there for the specific channel that users need to follow.

When you have important messages that you want to be able to see quickly, use our pin feature. Pinned messages are flagged as special. Pinned messages (and conversations) can be set up so that you see them at the top of your folder. You can also search for pinned messages.
