New Mobile Layout is Terrible
So for whatever reason I couldn't access this support site with my ACTUAL Discord login info, which is a pain in the neck let me tell ya, but my post tonight is about the “new” and “terribly unimproved” mobile layout.
What on earth were people at Discord thinking? This is not an improvement, it's a copycat of Facebook Messenger! Y'all aren't ‘social media’ you're supposed to be better than social media, stop trying to copy others and keep to the stuff that works.
And for the love of all that is good, and to show you still have Respect for the Autistic Discord Community members and other community members who can't “just get used to the new way things are” – give us the choice to opt out at the VERY, ROCK BOTTOM LEAST of these new UI changes y'all are just trying to force on us. Please. We are begging you.

As someone with Autism these changes have me on the verge of a breakdown, because the biggest safe space where I got to interact with my world of people is now uncomfortable and clunky and annoying.

YES!! That was exactly my assessment!
I've been paying nitro for over a year now and if I wanted to use an app like Messenger, I would use Messenger.
This update was ridiculous! It's pathetic how developers update everything all at once for the worse, and not progressively.
I liked the old layout. Repeating what Seraph said, “is now uncomfortable and clunky and annoying”.

Well said! I also couldn't access this support forum either with my login, it was a pain to get into.
I canceled my Nitro as well, that I've been paying for for years.

I've been using Nitro on my account now for 2-3 years I think it is, and I've enjoyed every aspect of it. However, I only opted in because I saw improvements, and I saw the way Discord's Team listened when everyone went “hey we don't want this change! fix it!” the FIRST time, earlier this year – and gave us all that little toggle switch that we could use to Opt Out of the UI changes.
And I'm sitting here a few weeks after Nitro auto-renewed for another year thinking to myself, “Welp, I'm definitely not doing this again next year if this keeps up.”
I just hope the team over at Discord proves themselves worthy of our $99 because the rest of the perks are awesome, but it just takes one bad egg to spoil the dozen.6 -
Agreed 100%. I canceled Nitro as well + boosts. UI consistency was a great selling point and fantastic for the neurodivergent audence, that's completely destroyed now. Discord no longer feels safe, it feels stressful to use. As for why there's another account for here- that's because the support backend uses Zendesk which has it's own login system and they're not compatible. A limitation in some respects, but many companies have the same issue. Nonetheless, the point stands that this update needs to be binned, scrapped and burned at the stake.

It seems that the more people join the Discord platform, the worse the app gets. It's clear that developers are preferring to adapt to new users, even if that includes deleting old ones!
I don't ask that it remain something archaic forever, but that it has a minimum of respect for those who have been using the platform since 2019.
I hope they get better soon, because it's impossible to adapt to so many consecutive updates.

Same here. I hang out with a group of friends who are mostly neuro-divergent and none of them like this new update. It's inaccessible and not user-friendly at all! I'm the closest to an average normal guy and even I think this new update is bad.
My friends had issues trying to figure out who's online, where our chats were and even reading any texts. This is just horrible and it's the most basic of functions.
I'm know they're trying to cater towards the general public even more after abandoning their “For Gamers” slogan years ago, but this is just turning Discord into your typical social media or communication app like others have mentioned. If my friends and I wanted to use those apps, we would have downloaded them and use them instead of Discord!

Using Discord since 2015. Committed most if not all actions to muscle memory, now thrown away by a new UI. Multiple things are unresponsive or non-functional. The old UI was fine. I am not usually one to hate change simply for being change; I didn't mind the new logo, branding, colors, icons… but this UI revamp is unacceptable, and not providing a legacy interface option is abhorrent, even if it would lack future features forever.

All of this is very true, it is painful, clunky, difficult to navigate (without it having to be) and plain and simple not discord anymore just another run of the mill bad social media which we all dont want to be on and why we were on discord in the first place.
