Mobile New UI Swipe to Reply/Edit inconsistent behavior

Mobile problem since the new UI: It's frustrating that for every message in a channel, swiping left on the message results in a reply, UNLESS it's my own message, where swiping left results in an edit. In both cases, swiping left should be a REPLY. I often use the Reply feature to reference an old message in a DM, so I can comment on the topic further and reference the previous discussion.

Now, what happens is I find some old message I want to reference, and if I swipe left on it without first checking the author of the message, I'll mistakenly edit my message instead of drafting a new one. Sometimes don't catch this and I end up rewriting the old message, thinking I sent a reply. It's dumb that the same guesture will have different behaviors depending on whether I wrote the message or not, when replying is a valid action in either case.
