Add a way to turn off other peoples screens-share only for you
I have always wanted this since discord first introduced screen-share. I have a bad laptop so whenever my friends started screen-sharing my game that i have been playing starts to lag, making me force to leave the call because i cant turn it off on my end only. if this was an option i would still be able to talk to my friends and play my games even when my friend is showing their screen with the rest of my friends.

I am in a server that is currently receiving early beta access to the in-server screen sharing, and as cool as this feature is, it kills my internet performance - I have slower internet then most, and just hang out in voice chats, but cannot disable when they want to screen share with each other. This should be an option to choose if you want to watch. Please fix this ASAP.

Yes, just like mute button, there's should be another button to toggle "Voice only" for those users need to save bandwidth while still able to chat within the server group.

Can confirm the stream feed is still being downloaded even though you are not even participating or watching anyone in the channels stream.
This means it is unnecessarily using cpu and gpu cycles and your internets bandwidth for no reason.
Maybe why this feature is still in beta. Keep being vocal folks.

They seriously need to get this added quickly... My internet doesn't like screenshare, and a few of my friends love turning on screenshare when we're all in a call together... and I don't want to be the one to tell them "Hey, my internet is dying because of your screenshare, turn it off"... we're all trying to have fun and hang out, some of them are watching the screenshare and they're often commenting on stuff they see too, but on my end, it ties up my bandwidth and lags me out of any online game I'm playing and when 2 or more of them start screensharing together it doesn't just kill my bandwidth, it also causes problems for my CPU, and I have an 8-core AMD FX Vishera... it's also only discord that does this... even just adding an option to adjust video quality would help.

@raighn agreed, adding an option to choose a static bitrate before firing up the source stream would also help. I've noticed a 720p30 stream alone eats up a great deal of bandwidth and it seemed to not really change much if changed to 480p, the bitrates are probably the same no matter what resolution.
I got 1TB of bandwidth per month (fu comcast) and it could easily be eaten up by having my friends screen sharing as a group.

This really need's to get added it's a cpu hog when 2-3 people are screensharing and you wanna play a game plus people don't always want to see other's screens so it would be amazing feature

We don't. Discord's too busy adding more important features, like animated server icons you need to overpay for or trying too hard to be Yet Another Game Launcher Literally Nobody Uses3 -
Yes! I have a GTX 1060 but an old Core i3, screenshares more than half my framerate

Add me to the list of people that wants this option. My computer and internet speeds can handle it but I don't want to hear my friends game which is linked to user volume, just like voice and it does hit my performance enough to be seriously annoying. This has been a problem for 10 months at least from what I can see, I really wish it'd get addressed.

Seriously, I have this friend, who even if you are playing the same game again, they still screen share, then wonder why I'm lagging so bad. Can there please be a way to turn off screenshares?

Why the hell is this still a thing? Such a basic option.. I want the ability to turn of screen-share or video from other people.

Please dear god allow us to turn off other people's webcams, it lags my comp so much when I'm in game, and I effectively can't use discord. Is this already an option and I'm missing it?

Except it's not. I literally did so yesterday, as well as the tweet, was, about calls. But it can be done on both
I am a Desktop PC user so idk if it's a thing on mobile Discord yet. That's my only thought as to why it possibly didn't work for you.

is it possible on mobile yet? i couldnt seem to find the option and i tried even blocking the person that had his camera on and that didnt work either
