Switch channels using mousewheel.
The Problem
I use dual monitors while gaming so I can play in fullscreen mode and use Discord at the same time. I don't have the overlay because I'm on Linux, however, I think this suggestion is simple enough that a lot of users would use it regardless of their platform.
When I put my mouse over the chat feed I can use the mousewheel to scroll through unread messages without affecting my game, however, I have to wait until I'm respawning or in a lobby to switch channels because I have to click on Discord, resulting in the operating system losing focus on the game window and minimizing it, requiring me to reopen it. This is a UX issue, that, while I've gotten used to, does present a minor inconvenience to me.
The Solution
My idea for a solution is to allow users, when the mouse is over the channel list, to use the mousewheel to simply switch through channels. This addition that would improve user experience by saving time spent moving the mouse and clicking on a channel, or allowing the users to read messages from other channels without causing the operating system to lose focus on an active window such as a fullscreen game.
An example of this type of feature is present in Google Chrome. When the mouse is moved over the tabs bar, you're able to use the mousewheel to quickly switch or cycle through tabs.
