Formatting Shortcuts and More Formatting Options
First of all, formatting shortcuts should be added, allowing you to use shortcuts to add bold and italics to messages. This should be done in consistency with how many other apps do it, using Cmd + B for bold, Cmd + I for italics etc. These are all generally used and most people are much more familiar with them than the * conventions used for bold and italics used in Discord currently. On handheld devices, formatting should be done in the same way it is now or using buttons. This would make simple text formatting much simpler and more intuitive to more people. Although, there is always controversy when things are changed so maybe keep the * conventions currently used as an option in settings.
Second of all, I believe more formatting options should be available to use. Things such as larger text, subscript and superscript would all be welcome options, and can be useful when writing an informational chat for admins, where most use images for headers since the font in discord is always the same smaller size. This would also allow for creative styling to be used in informational channels.
Whilst many may believe these are unessential things, I believe they would improve the overall experience with Discord and save people a lot of time, as well as adding consistency with other applications.

yeah this would be great. For me it would be like 1) you write your message 2) you select the part that you want to format 3) you make this Ctrl+B for bold, Ctrl+I for italics, and so on ... 1 -

I was gonna say with mobile you could also use shortcuts with bluetooth keyboards.
I mean this website even has it heh.
