Arrow key select override

When i type something in the text field like /shrug, :thinking: or #general-chat and my cursor happens to be in that general area while i select a specific thing from what i typed using the arrow keys
Instead of selecting the one that was highlighted thanks the arrow keys, when i press enter, it inputs the one my cursor was hovering over, its really annoying.
Can we get something to override the cursor selection when we are choosing a specific option with the arrow keys?
