Discord should be American's Wechat

Wechat is so big in China and Chinese people that everywhere you go in China, they all have it, they all use it, and it's so constant. Even outside of China, if you meet Chinese people, especially fobs, it's all about Wechat.

I don't use Wechat. Being Chinese but can't speak or read it, I never use it. Working in a Chinese dominant place in USA, I got tons of hate for it from fobs and telling me to get it.

I never did because it like I said, I can't read or write in Chinese, and if you change your phone number it's all gone.

But my Chinese fob coworkers keep using it and bugging me about it that I try to find an American or Western version of Wechat, and to my avail there is none.

It wasn't until I saw at a Chinese party where they set me up in a table with a group of people my age, so these youngsters weren't fobs, they were ABCs. Then they started talking about discord, so a guy asked them if they were gamers and they said, no. Me and him were shocked because discord revolves around gamers and started for gamers. But then I said, to be fair I've been in servers that aren't about games, it seems there are servers for almost anything now.

Then it hit me, Discord should be the American/Western Wechat. I asked the ABCs if they have Wechat seeing as their Chinese and to be surprise they said no! So I told them how in my workplace I get hate for not having it and that I feel better now that they also don't have it.

Now I don't know what Wechat does better than Discord because as I mention, I never use it. But it is so popular that every Chinese people have it. So I want Discord to be so popular that everyone is on Discord just like how they're all on Wechat.

I know Wechat got some things like payment and location which doesn't make it that useful for Discord because you got apple pay and can send your location through the text messages. Unless for payment they can go through online or something and Discord can like partner up with Paypal or something. Now my concern with Wechat were the Chinese hackers because they're so good. Ever since I've been to China, my accounts says someone is trying to get in. But you can say that about almost anything, not just Wechat, about getting hacked.

tldr; Discord Should be the American/Western version of Wechat and just do whatever Wechat does but better. And hopefully so many people start using it and are always on it just like how the Chinese are always on Wechat.

Well the reason why the chinese use WeChat so much, is because it is almost the only communication platform they can use in China. Because the chinese government blocks every internet service, they can't control.

If you work with or are friends with chinese people, who are often in China, then there aren't many other ways to communicate with them.

Ohh, that's why. It's moderated by the government and they have no contest where as discord does. Makes sense.
