A Bridge Between Language & Better coding
Good Evening Discord administrators, developers, and staff,
We are in a world of over eight billion people, and not everyone speaks the same language, as is seen when speaking with others in a voice channel.
Discord gives people across the globe the ability to listen to their friends while they work or play a game, wherever they are at. It even hast the ability to turn text into speech, so long as you utilize the proper commands. However, the text to speech has a few flaws when utilized: It directs the message to all who see it in a general chat, rather than inside a voice chat, which can be very annoying for those not part of the conversation. On top of this, if one were to utilize their native dialect, in a text to speech function, the text to speech function will not read off what is being stated. Though these are problematic, I believe they can be fixed.
To fix the general text to speech situation, simply adding a configurable destination to the command would help users talk with others who have microphones, even if they themselves do not. In example one, I utilized the /tts command and added what I would believe can have a destination source. To make this easy, simply adding a pop-out feature can also help others as well, instead of having a whole other text channel solely based for those without a microphone.
Example 1
/tts_TextChannel-General
/tts_VoiceChannel-General
Next is the bridge between languages, and though users can go to google and utilize google translate, that feature is not often reliable as it can easily confuse words like “cereal” with “serial” in Japanese. To fix this, translation codes would need to create for others to understand what is being stated, and respond appropriately.
In summary, the result of all of this would be to have the option of right click on a channel or a spot to translate and voice out what is being stated, no matter what platform they utilize
Respectfully submitted
