Support for mailto: links
Title says it all. Discord should support mailto: links for linking email addresses. When displayed, the mailto: part would get hidden so it would just be a hyperlinked email address.

It'd be useful to link any email address so users don't have to copy the address and can instead just click on it.

I need this feature in a directory channel that lists contact information of the mods. It can be accomplished if Discord would start supporting standard Markdown hyperlinks.

I came here wondering if this had been requested before for exactly the reason QueueBot gave. In one of my professional servers we have less technically saavy members and having to copy an email address from a message on their iPhone and then figuring out how to paste that into their email client is pretty burdensome for them. Supporting the mailto format would be a very very nice QoL improvement for everyone, technically inclined or not.
As far as supporting standard markdown, I completely understand why they don't. Far too easy to prey upon people by linking to something malicious while making it look like the link points to something harmless.3 -

I can kinda get why, discord don’t want to take messages/users off platform but there are plenty of legit use case scenarios.
It could be a toggled option, disabled by default.1 -

I think now is the best time for Discord to add mailto: support. Considering Discord is moving beyond gaming chats, academic and professional servers would be able to provide users with quick access to email services. This doesn't have to be automatic. It could be done via <mailto:xyz@example.com> or with the new Discord hyperlink markdowns (Contact me here example)[mailto:xyz@example.com]
I believe this would be an excellent quality-of-life update if it were to be implemented, so I hope Discord acknowledges this feature request.

On my discord it would be quite helpful as its a company discord and i would love to add my emails as a mailto.
