Ability to see your own roles in a server from the click of a single button.
In a huge, large server, it will definitely be a hassle to find yourself on the server list and see your own roles if you aren't a high rank such as an admin or moderator. Obviously you could chat in a channel and check your roles, but sometimes you may not be able to do that or just dont want to say something really stupid like "test" in a random channel so having an option to check your own roles without having to click on your profile in the server list or chat in a channel could be handy for those moments.

If you really want to know your roles in a huge server easily, you just have to search for a comment of your own (top right) and click on your profile picture.

What if I can't send messages?

In this case:
1. why are you even in the server
2. just make someone @ you

As an example, I've joined a server that lets you sign up for immediate notification with a link when high-demand hardware becomes available to order. Roles are how notifications are sent out properly, so verifying they've been assigned correctly by the bot is a concern. There are tens of thousands of users. Even after scrolling through the user list my username bounces around constantly as users come online. Setting nicknames is also disabled, so changing it to "!" to show up on top isn't an option. Fortunately the server does still have chat channels, but I don't have much desire to participate in them.
It's not a debilitating issue, but I shouldn't have to spam a text channel or play whack-a-mole with my own name to see my roles. It would be nice to have the roles visible elsewhere, or an option like always showing the current user in a stable position in the server list.

I agree with EZ2M, really hard to find out your roles in a huge discord without spamming or searching your name in the right column for hours.

This is definitely an issue. Just because there are unintuitive workarounds to a problem doesn't mean that the problem shouldn't be improved. It's always been a hassle to check my roles on large population servers and there should be an easier way.
If you click on your avatar in the bottom left it pops up a menu that lets you set your activity icon and set a custom status. I think this would be a good place to add another menu option which is just called roles, that expands and shows a list of all the roles you are in. The menu is already there and my avatar icon was literally the first place I looked when trying to find an alternative to the side pane. It seems like an intuitive spot, since both here and the side pane contains your photo and name. So I figured it would have similar options.
(I also think the 'change nickname' option should be moved down here as opposed to being up in the top left server drop down, as that is more for server stuff, but I digress)

Landed here after googling to see how I can view my role(s) on a server w/o having to send a message.
This seems like a pretty basic/straightforward thing that should exist on the Server context menu. Any chance of implementing this?11 -
Or even... just add a search feature to the users list
9 -
Except there isn't a search feature to the user's list in a discord server. If there is, tell me how you do it.
1 -
Agree with the request. There is no reason to go through such effort. We already have a permanent profile icon in the main view that copies the name#id, just add it there.

+1 for this, landed here after googling how to see my roles in a server.
5 -
also still looking for this.
2 -
I also want this feature very much.

1. Go to the server in which you want to find your role
2. Go to the search bar and type in your username
3. Even if you haven't chatted in the server yet, your 'welcome' message will pop up.
4. Left click on your username.
5. You should see your roles now3 -
Varun Ambadi - not all servers have a welcome log, and/or it may be purged often.
This also should be much easier to accomplish; e.g. an item from the server context menu

fpund this thread bc im having trhe same issue as everyone else. In a large server that is not used for chatting, but rather uses bots to accomplish a goal. thousands of users at any given time, your roles dictate which notifications you get, and sometimes the bots that assign the roles do not do it correctly
the long and short of it is this: users need the ability to check the roles that currently assigned
as other have said, it doesnt even matter if there is some convoluted way of doing it.. the whole point of software development is to add new features, refine it, improve the UI and UX (user friendliness).. with as good a dev team that discord has, this is a no brainer.. especially as more and more users are on mobile compared to 5 years ago

2 years and still no update on whether or not this will be a feature.

discord please read this chain this needs to be added.

I just got verified and I don't want to spam the chat just to check my roles. Don't make me awkward like that Discord!1 -
Same problem here
1 -
how is this not implemented already?
2 -
This is an irritating and surprising problem. Just like MrFRZ mentioned, I clicked the icon in the lower right to find my roles. It was surprising to me that I had to find a message I sent to find my roles (I figured this out by playing around) and was also surprised that it had almost the same interface as the icon in the bottom right, but it wasn't the same.
Another pace I expected to be able to find this info by clicking the people icon in the upper right that brings open "threads", "pins" etc.
4 -
BUMP. This would be such an easy feature to implement there is no reason why it's not in.
1 -
I agree, add the user's role in the status (in the bottom-left corner), or make the users's list searchable!
1 -
Bump as well, would love to have this
1 -
Bumping this... Even just having your own name stuck to the top/bottom of a server list would be helpful.
1 -
Or show your roles in the edit server profile
5 -
That's what i want to say even now!
1 -
Bump!

I think you can just search your name and go to the automated messages when you joined the server like “welcome ___” and then you can click you name and find your roles. You have to click jump to messages first and after you search your name. But you all are right there should be an easier way
