Suggestion regarding pings

So most people will have the problem of people sometimes mass @ing people on a server (I'm sure most Discord server owners have experienced this). So I was thinking, what if a "ping" doesn't actually ping the corresponding person until a few seconds later, so that if the server has an automod, it can remove the message before any damage is done. If this feature was a thing, mass mention messages that get filtered will actually prevent the actual ping being done if that makes sense?
