Frequently used emoji counts reactions
I think it could be great that emojis we use in reactions counts in the frequently used emojis list.
Every day i use  to greet friends but it keeps going down in the list and finally disappears. I have to go to my private server to spam it to get it back to the top of the list for a moment

I definitely second this. It's ridiculous that only the emojis you send via chat are counted. I react to things much more than I send emojis.

Please, Discord, either change the name of the curated reactions list to, "Channel-Owner Reactions" or another designation relative to WHO frequently uses them, because it sure as hell isn't us. <wink> <finger-guns> <pew-pew>
Or, here is a crazy, off-the-chart, wild, maniacal, idea used by one or two developers, make the frequently used list, those reactions I frequently use. <squishy-brain-explosion sounds>

Some of them (namely the server-custom ones) seem to do this already.
Some of the most basic ones (:D face) don't, so I have the problem as you.
I vote that this behaviour gets changed to increase consistency.

You can use emojis for reactions. That is using an emoji. Therefore it should appear in the frequently used list. Current behavior is stupid.

i found this topic because i always assumed that using an emoji as a reaction counted as "using" it. why wouldn't it be?? the fact that it doesn't is a bug.

It isn't a bug, as I understand it. It is a poorly made feature. The frequently used emojis seem to be set or related to the owner of the channel. We, non-channel owners are not part of this algorithm. And, they havn't updated the name of the list to be "Channel Owner Recent Emojis"

I have absolutely no idea how reactions end up in the Frequent list (or not). I use the finger point emoji all the time in reactions, and I've never had it appear in the frequent list. I don't get it. It it only emojis that I use in a message? No matter where (reaction vs message) I use the emoji, that should count for 'usage', right?

Yes please hurry up and fix this, it only just clicked with me that the reason my frequently used list isn't changing is because I only use them in reactions, not text. Its incoherent to not count reactions towards favourites, but to show the same favourites list regardless.

+1 from me - I just filed a bug report about this and was sent here.

+1 too, why was this posted 2 years ago and nothing done about it, not a coder but.. should be simple? Groundwork counter should be there from frequently used emoji code I imagine.

This is definitely a problem. I have no idea why sometimes frequent emotes update and sometimes they don't. It seems that reactions don't count, but I think that's not the only way this feature is broken.

The “Recents” list is a curated reactions list by the channel owner. It should be renamed to be, "Channel-Owner Reactions" or another designation relative to who frequently uses them. It isn’t us the users who have recently used them.

I agree that reactions should count as a use of an emoji for the purposes of your "frequently used" list. Having to spam emojis in a private channel so you can get the ones you frequently use as reactions is very peculiar.
In fact, if Discord wants to make a distinction between emojis used in posts vs. ones used in reactions, they could track both separately, and use the appropriate set of favourites depending on the context. If you're reacting, offer the emojis you frequently use in reactions. If you're posting, offer the emojis you frequently use when posting.
