Blue left bar for light theme
One of the reasons I didn't use Light Theme in the past was the dark server/channel bar.
With a medium monitor brightness, it was difficult to look at, because my eyes focused in the light content. With a low monitor brightness, it was possible to look at, but was distracting. It still felt weird.
With a light bar, I can now see it without trouble, as it matches the theme. But that makes the whole app too bright. In my environment, it isn't really a trouble, but for many others it seems to be, so I played around and made a bar following Discord's color scheme.
I believe Light Theme would continue looking well with a blue bar. The whole app isn't white, and the bar isn't as striking as the dark bar was.

I wholeheartedly support this as a good direction to take for light mode. It keeps the gradient-based base design of the app but makes use of the strengths of light-coloured design, ie. color being a comparatively balanced design element vs. color popping out in Dark Mode.

i like this but i would also make the main chat area slightly darker, while possibly also making the member list blue?

I want the dark bar back but this also looks pretty good.

Both current themes cause me discomfort. The dark I strain to see and the light is so bright it hurts my eyes. I am on the bring the old back wagon. This Blue is pleasing and at first glance does not hurt to look at. I would welcome giving it a try.
