Hard to find new messages

Often times I get a notification sound or just check Discord in the morning and when I look at my Inbox there is stuff there but most of the time it is the same as the last time I checked. 

Why isn't the Inbox, both the Mentions and Unreads, showing the last post that I was notified about and/or was sent? 

There has to be a easier, less confusing way to see my notifications.
