No news feeds

I stumbled upon Discord yesterday. It has quite the learning curve, but also has a ton of potential! I was able to enjoy several servers yesterday, but after joining several and verifying on a few, ever other one that I have clicked on has no news feed. Is there something that I needs to do? Seems odd that it worked fine for a while and then stopped... Thoughts?
