Discord Status, Online Do not disturb, invisable

When a person has a Do not disturb or invisible on people who send DMs to that person will not go to the person,

  If they are invisible it will still go through as normal. If they are in do not disturb it will also still go through but without the audible ping, so in do not disturb they will not know till they check their messages and see it.
