Why does joining a livestream force your volume on?

Why does discord force your volume on whenever you join a livestream? I’m on IOS, and as far as I can tell there’s no way to mute the volume completely without the use of third party tools. I literally have to cover my phone speakers because there’s no option to mute it. Is there any sort of option to mute live-streams for the “go live” feature?
