The new design is not content- and user-friendly
Having emojis, time and a darker shade in your face every time you hover over a message is extremely distracting and heavy on the eyes.
The primary content in Discord are messages, and providing the user with unnecessary information every time he attempts to view a message - the single reason he is using the app, is not user-friendly to say the least.
Emojis are used on average at best once every 10-20 messages (in some communities - never), and are of secondary importance in comparison to the messages themselves. Despite this statistical disparity, the emoji menu clutters every message unless the user strives to keep the cursor outside the chat window at all times, which is just straining, annoying and yet again not user-friendly.
Furthermore, the removal of lines between messages packs them together into an unreadable mess and no matter how great the distance between the message groups is, they appear visually smashed together.
Please, consider this and other users' feedback regarding the new UI. This update was not asked for, is detrimental to the daily use of the wonderful thing that is Discord and is universally disliked across all groups of users.

I agree, usability in this version has been the worst I've seen since discord's launch. If it was easier to submit feedback in the client, I can assure you, you would have heard a lot of negative feedback about this change.
The emojy bar is incredibly frustrating and should at best be an optional feature.
The lines should also not be turned off without an option to get them back.

As another thread pointed out, this UI is actually factually harmful to some people. It should be OPTIONAL at the least. https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360056694752-The-February-2020-update-is-hell-for-disabled-and-neurodivergent-people-
