Why are there more spaces between messages now by the same user?

Seems to be due to the new timestamp layout so you know when each message was sent? Honestly it's the smallest and easiest to get used to issue out of all of them right now.

This is pretty bad. I see they added a "between-users message spacing" option where you can select the space between different user messages, so why not between messages from one user?
This is pretty ridiculous. What's the point of being able to highlight a singular message with your mouse if you're just going to add spacing to make it even more highlighted.

Either add an option to choose which of those to keep, or remove one.
Preferably the unnecessary spacing, given it's just a waste of space.

I agree that forced spacing i can't alter between message groups from same user are just terrible. The red line marking unread messages also became very intrusive, and won't go away when i click the text input bar, only if i switch channel and back again, or actually send a message.

    Disagree @Zlo @the red line.

It's different, but in my opinion, not really bad? It's just peculiar as to why they'd change it out.

But, at least your issue has a simple fix to some degree. You can press ESC to remove the red line. That's how I did it with the past one. Still works.
