Don't Fix What Isn't Broken.
The title speaks for itself. Discord consistently changes UI elements right after everyone gets used to the latest redesign, or to solve problems that were never there in the first place.
TL;DR Discord needs to fix real bugs and stop creating more problems, evident by the latest UI update.
I want to believe that they listen to actual feedback, but most of their implementations seem to follow a basic structure of "pwease add da discordo noise!!" or other annoying unnecessary additions.
For as long as I can remember, group DMs (and maybe even normal DMs) have had a bug that prevents you from scrolling up in chat while in a call. It's one of the most annoying bugs I've encountered in Discord, and has never been fixed. I haven't noticed any other complaints about it online, but I know it is not exclusive to me. It has affected every device I've used Discord on, and my friends as well.
This latest UI update doesn't solve any real problems, the "frequently used" emoji selection is ugly and still does not represent the emoji that are actually frequently used. The removal of the line separators and message highlighting were unnecessary, clutter up the the message area, and are just plain ugly.
Worst case scenario, if they are unwilling to revert the changes, compromise and allow the user to choose their style of Discord. Adding a "style" choice would be nice, such as a "classic" style (before the latest update) and a "new" style (the latest update.) An option would probably be totally welcomed, since I have seen tweets and other posts about how they enjoy the newest update.
Quick edit right after posting: don't hide the option to disable the startup noise. Some people accidentally enable it and have no idea how to disable it.
Another edit: the startup noise seems to have been removed.
