Why does discord randomly become very loud?
So if I'm in a voice chat it seems at random everyone and every discord notification will basically destroy my ears. At first everything will be fine an at the normal volume I set, but out of no where everything goes to max volume and it doesn't fix itself until I leave VC and join back.

sven if you have something usefull to say then say it the problem is synapse
also we all know razer is not gone fix as there working synapse 3 but they make 0 progress on synapse once again proving that razer is not as good as it used to be
so give us a fix
only fix i know of and that work are uninstall synapse (bad sound/mic)
or
buy a new headset that is not DRM locked to software...
also still looking for a new headset....

Can confirm that the issue lies with Synapse not playing nice. It is not a Discord only problem as I can replicate the issue in Apex Legends very easily.
I was in a back and forth with Razer support for about a month, only for them to say "It's out of our control, check your other drivers or reformat Windows" but also "the issue will be fixed with a future Synapse update." I find a Synapse update coming out soon unlikely as the most recent update was July 2019. However in saying that, it also raises the question of what kickstarted this issue, as my first experience with it was late February this year, which doesn't line up with a Synapse update.

I have same issue.. Razer Synapse & Discord is very useless after new updates.
Step 1) Delete Synapse 2 and install Synapse 3 (If you using chroma keyboard, etc.)
Step 2) Run as admin Discord - Switch to Legacy Sound (This will solve your bad quality mic sound)
Step 3) Pray to God for solve this problem.
Discord & Razer can work together for solve users problem. If we're "really important" for them.0 -

I`ve got the same problem, and also with razer kraken 7.1. I tryed so many things that I've read about it, nothing really works.
Just uninstall the fucking synapse 2. Install Synapse 3. End of story. 2 days without this freaking issue.

Well sorry to burst your bubble but it has nothing to do with Razer. I have NO razer devices or any razer drivers installed and I have this problem. I will be chatting with people and suddenly they get super loud and the only way to quite them is to use the volume control on my headset (Steelseries Siberia 350). It will also happen multiple times even after using the volume control on my headset.
This is a seriously annoying problem and needs to be fixed!!!

It's probably a discord problem then, but multiple users have pointed to uninstalling synapse fixing their problem, so I'm sure there's a problem with how Synapse and Discord interact as well.

Hey everyone, I just fiddled with my settings, and if you're anything like me, it's way less complicated.
I had output volume set to over 100% for calls because I assumed it would be x% of my current volume setting, but it turns out every so often discord is resetting its own volume to be that % in terms of your computer's normal master volume, even if you turn your master volume down. That's what the little stutters are right before it gets loud.Anyway, now I just have it on 60

with mine, lets say i leave a call on discord since i had to go.
i come back join the call, and now i can hear people talking with my ehadset on my desk loud and clear . i changed no settings and the fix i found? ya know just jump in and out of servers or even ask the people in the call to rejoin and bam it works normally. i really am just confused over it all and just annoyed tbh0 -
I have the same issue, seems alot of users are reporting problems specifically related to Razer Synapse 2.0 and/or the Man'O War Wireless Headset.

hey um bit out of topic but i need some people who have the same headset as me, um my man o war ear pads are litterally falling off of my headset now they are dead, i need new ones i bought some online adn they were horrid, it ruined the sound quality and they were realllly small too

SOLUTION I THINK!!!
I set discord to output audio as "game" instead of "chat" for the razer audio controller and it seemed to fix the issue. I can't individually balance game and chat on the controller but I can do it in discord and in games.0 -

I have the same problem even after recently formatting my pc. This problem have started about between 8 months to 1 year with a discord update, before that i have never had this problem and i dont have audio problems with any other program but discord. So i suppose its a discord problem.

Wanted to share where i suffer as you but also highlight something elseSymptom - Voice can be fine, but suddenly it will ramp up 3000% for about 5-10 seconds before it goes back to normal
Often when entering call people are much louder than usual and i need to put them to 5%. Still can get ramped ip to 3000%

I had this happen both on Discord AND Microsoft Teams.I believe you are all correct with that this issue lies in Synapse and how it handles chat audio even if you told it to not change audio based on what happens with your sound otherwise. Therefor i theorize that you will also experience this in Skype and other call programs that seperate normal desktop audio and chat audio.
TLDR: I have all the issues everyone else see. To be reporting. However I experienced this not only on Discord,but Microsoft Teams as well and its likely it affects others. This seems to boil down to a hardware and software issue on Razers part. Especially considering how many it fixes it for by simply uninstaing synapse

I don't know why but whenever I go into a call the other persons voice is the the volume I have set to my PC, but on all the other applications except chrome (what I am using for discord) are just turned down to the point where I can barely hear them.

i dont know if this is a temporal solution but, i start using discord via web app, is limited (u cant share screen ans stuff) but just for chat is ok, the loud volume thats appear randonly just vanish...

So i have the razer kraken 7.1 since 2013 and never had a problem until 2018. In that year the my windows started laggin whenever i change my volume, this was apparently a bug involving the account and not the software itself. I contacted razer support and somehow they fix it and 4 months have passed and no problems yet. Now this distorted sound problem started aprox maybe 7 months ago? (Maybe more) with, or a synapse2 update or a discord update, it really doesnt matter. What does matter is that this is an incompatibilty problem that i only had with discord so far and not with any other program or game in the 7 years i had this headphones. This takes me to believe that it should by a discord problem and they should take responsability for. This problem should be fixed between razer and discord but im not seeing any of them having interest in fix it. I've contacted razer support and they dont even read my message and started with the crappy reinstall the client, reinstall microsoft netframework, etc etc. And the same goes with discord. I dont think we have to blame only razer for the problem its obviusly both fault and we need to ask for help in the support page nonstop until they do somenthing. I've already send razer and discord support a message but i need all of you to help and ask for support too.

I may have finally found the solution! (I believe people with Razer Man O War headsets and razer synapse 2.0 are experiencing this frustrating issue).
1. Right click the discord application
2. Click "Troubleshoot Compatability"
3. Click the first option "Try recommended settings"
4. It should then apply the update "Windows compatabiltity mode: Windows 8"
5. Test the program and click Next.
6. Finally click "Yes, save these settings for this program" and close the troubleshooter.
7. Launch discord and hopefully see the magic!

I'm back in contact with Razer staff, this time a forum support member. They suggested that I create a new Windows user and test if that makes a difference.
Funnily enough it did! I only did my testing with Apex Legends where I experience the issue most often, but this I imagine this translates to Discord as well. Do your own testing and let us know.
This breakthrough suggests that we all have some sort of software conflict in our main admin users that doesn't present itself in new non-admin users. The problem now is discovering where this conflict is occurring, I personally cannot think of anything I have installed on my admin user that may cause interference with Synapse drivers.

i found that when i plug my headset in it works fine so just plug it in join and unplug it

Deja's solution seems to have worked for me! This issue has been bothering me for nearly 6 months!
I may have finally found the solution! (I believe people with Razer Man O War headsets and razer synapse 2.0 are experiencing this frustrating issue).

i have the same problem as of till today, it has been since like 5 months ago... upon joining a VC i get a 7/10 chance of ear rape and if im already in a game, doesnt matter what game its a 9/10 chance to get ear raped and 4/10 chance my MIC doesnt work but works on OTHER aplications... tried to uninstall Razer Synapse (Both of them, for headset and keyboard) doesnt work, tried the same with discord, doesnt work, hard restarting my pc, doesnt work. unplugging the USB, hard restart the PC, uninstall and install BOTH synapse apps, doesnt work.... the problem is NOT Razer's so far (as of what i know) but Discords, as i've tried to use Earplugs to use on discord and i dont get Earraped... (tried it on Discord, Skype, god damn Teams ect, only earrape on Discord with Razer Man O'War 7.1 Wireless... Usually takes me 20 Disconnect & Reconnect to the call to fix it (temporarily) and going into a game it happens at random...

Compatability mode is not gone help and it never will stop suggesting this also its just gone happen again it maybe normal now and maybe the next call its fcked again its random some time's its fine then its not over and over

Lacho mmmm now that is some testing so if something is rong with the admin account that the software does not like then it seems that it is a synapse not a windows problem also gone point out that this all start wen razer start updating synapse 2 again to be in line with GDPR law and they changed some thing how synapse works AKA they broken it them self
so where back where we started razer need to fix synapse 2 and there not gone do that we all know that
look at synapse 3 its buggy and slow as hall they where gone add older device's and they never done it at this point i'm just gone say a new headset... yes its a pain i know it cost money and stay away from razer stuff and start looking in to corsair. razer was for gamers by gamers but that is not the case any more and its time to move on
also Lacho i done some testing on a fresh windows install on a second pc admin account problem made a second account none admin samething happend after a few calls so that is not the fix also
only way to fix is
A get a new headset that use synapse 3
B disable synapse 2 ( and get bad and mic )
C buy new headset not from razer at this point there is no use in trying
if you go with B and your friends say your mic is really really low just and its hard for them to understand you ya... you need to run the software that buggs out wen ever it wants for no reason
i'm going to give up on this post

i buyed a Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless
i can run the soft ware that A works
or i can not run the software and its still good mic sound everthing works as needs to there products are not linked to the software like it needs to be
you can also look in to logitech headsets just for the love of good stay away from razer products and check other stuff out

Ashe_X I have literally been having this issue with discord and my man o war for 6 months. I did absolutely everything I could think of and then I did the windows 8 compatibility mode that was recommended by Deja and all of the sudden I have zero issues with my sound in discord. Literally works perfectly now. I can switch channels go into different servers people can join and there are no issues. Just letting everyone know, it worked for me.

I'm glad to hear my method is working, although it's still not a permanent fix. I have realized that I have to use this method every time I start my pc, so I have disabled auto startup for discord and I manually have to do this method every time I start my PC. It's not that big of an issue, although I would hope razer or discord find a permanent fix so that this issue would be gone forever.
Please let me know if you guys experience the same issue, or has it worked permanently for youse after one try?

i have had this problem for 7 months now and i have probably messed up my hearing for lifetime beacous of this. some times it has been so bad i tok brakes for days from gaming. this problem ruins the whole fun of gaming and it seems like everyone here has the razer man'o'war or atleast a razer headset suited for synapse 2.0. i have been considering to upgrade my headset for a while, but i dont want to downgrade to some cheap headset and the man'o'war was a top notch headset and an expensive one as well so i thougth it would be a bether investment. im stuck with no souloution.

Hey guys, this seems to be the problem with Razer Synapse 2.
Only solution to this is just to use discord through your browser.
I don't think razer is going to do anything with that ;/0
