Can we get opt-in notifications for DMs?

At the moment I have message notifications disabled.

My friend started having a stroke this morning and was trying to get my attention while unable to speak. 

The only option I have is to enabled message notifications and then mute literally everyone else. 

The ability to mute a server EXCEPT a specific channel already exists - so I would greatly appreciate the ability to do the same for DMs.
