WhatsApp like "Quality of Life" Features

Firstly thanks so much for all the work going into Discord!

Our group of friends has started transitioning our friends chat from WhatsApp to Discord!
We had so many groups, that it just made sense to rather setup a server with channels where we can chat in topic #channels.
The integration with games and music apps is also really great and it's been awesome being able to hangout with everyone in game again.
Something we've not done in many years.

However transitioning from WhatsApp is not without it's drawbacks. WhatsApp is quite a mature chat client and so there are some real quality of life features which I miss.

File Uploads

* The selection of files on mobile is quite limited, it just shows the most recent file.
While maybe technically workable, unfortunately if you are part of any messaging apps, that recent list is basically garbage... especially if you are on busy groups.
It would be great to be able select photo's and videos through the gallery of your choice e.g "Google Photos", or "Google Files". (see attached images)

* Automatic compression options. Right now with the upload limits often it becomes difficult and cumbersome to share photo's or videos.
On my phone, a single photo exceeds the 8mb limit (yes I will be boosting the server) but it seems a little silly that a native camera image is too big to upload.
It leads one to have to use a 3rd part app to downscale and compress the photo before uploading. Most often I give up.

WhatsApp automatically compresses files, now I think they can be overly aggressive, so it might nice when selecting files to give some options about compressing the images/videos.

* Snipping of videos, WhatsApp allows to selecting a video segment and give an indication of the final size. Again video is compressed, as per above comment.

Note: Compression could be based on Boost / Nitro tier. So more compression the less boosts/nitro. (I'll admit I don't fully grok the nitro/boost system)

Text Chat

* I like the quote feature but the styling is a little demphasized.
It's not always entirely clear what part was the quote and what was the replying text.
WhatsApp's visual treatment of this is far more effective.
