[Feature Suggestion]: The ability to talk to people without being in the same discord server as you.
(PLEASE READ THIS PART, I understand this suggestion of a feature would make people uncomfortable and probably cause a lot of people to be attacked and such [which is why I added a privacy setting option for my suggestion], so just please read my suggestion to understand where I'm going here.)
All social media platforms have this feature.
Steam is an example. they allow users to talk to each other even without adding them in a group chat or in this cause, without adding them on steam as a friend.
But discord doesn't, but I have an suggestion that could add that, but with a setting that could make it the way it is now, but you can enable it at will.
Usually on discord, you're not allowed to chat with people unless they're in the same server, at the same time as you, but what if we add a feature where we can talk to people from those same servers, even after we leave without having to be in the same server? so that way we won't lose contact with people even if we have *lets say a full friends list*, my suggestion for this is that, we can have the option in the privacy settings to set that ability off and on at will for lets say, in case of rando's trying to spam you with unwanted messages.
I hope you all enjoy my suggestion. because having this not as a feature makes me sad, because I've once made friends in discord servers only to leave them due to drama, and never getting the chance to add them or chat with them again.
If you guys have anything you wanna add onto my suggestion, feel free!
