Make it possible to create Announcement threads under text channels
Guild with one gaming channel can be messy if it gets both user messages and announcements from other game-related servers. At the moment this could be organized in two ways: 1) multiple text channels for each game announcement channel, or 2) one text channel only for announcements.
But why not use Discord's Thread feature?
- With this, users could create threads under the main #gaming main text channel for each game announcement channel.
- Users could follow specific threads what they want to, and they won't need to worry about missing an announcement.
- "Announcement threads" would be followed or not, meaning followers could get notifications (if they want to).
How it could work? Following an announcement:
- the Follow popup view would have an option to select a channel with a checkbox "Create a thread".
- If selecting the "thread" option, it would create a thread (will be never archived) and disables "Send Message"-rights from everyone; The thread will never get archived (automatically) but no one can use the feature to have a timely endless thread. It's just for announcements, right?
In default, it would use the same text as the thread's name what it would use on text channels ("server name" #"channel name"). However, the name could be changed to different if the server owner wants to.
TL;DR
- Announcement threads (for only announcements).
- These can be followed or not, depending is user interested or not.
- One text channel for multiple announcements could be organised into own Announcement threads

You can already create a thread from any message, including messages from bots. I already have a similar structure in my server. Deny "Send messages" to everyone, but enable "Create threads" and "Send messages in threads" for everyone. As of the auto archive, that's interlinked to Nitro

JustTheCoolest You can do it for bots, but not for subscribed/followed channels (Guild settings > Integrations). What I want to do is separate threads under #games channel, which each includes different games' notifications/subscribed messages.

@Finsku I'm able to create threads from announcement messages too. Or do you mean to say you want to receive announcements within threads?

JustTheCoolest Hi and sorry late response!
Could you tell me how to do that? I have already a thread under a text channel, but when I go to guild's settings > Integrations > Followed Channels, I can't find the created thread from the list.

JustTheCoolest no worries! Thanks for trying to help! :)
EDIT: If there's a way to make my first message clearer, let me know 👍

This is absolutely a feature that needs to be implemented. With the addition of threads, the ability to both use threads as announcement channels AND to receive them is vital to their full potential use being realized.

Gonna bump this again since it will be useful for servers that did not want to enable community feature, but still wants to follow an announcement channel to a thread.
Edit: Apparently you can't follow announcement to a forum post as well.0
