Downloaded Data Package needs to include messages sent TO you and messages that you send
The primary reason I ever request my discord data package is to save my DMs. To keep records of them separately from Discord. I've had people harass me via DMs before, and I will need that data should I ever need to pursue legal action against them, or someone else. However, the thing that irritates me is that when I request my discord data package, it only includes the messages I send. So, I end up with only 1/2 of a DM conversation.
That. Is useless.
I don't know why the data package is set up this way. My only guess from a technological standpoint would be because when compiling this data the program that does it treats servers and DMs the same. So, by only including messages YOU send, it makes it so that you don't end up getting the entire chat record for every channel of every server you have ever posted to.
Perhaps it is a privacy thing? IDK.
When someone sends you a DM, it is implied that they mean for you to have a record of said message. Otherwise, why send it? Therefore, I should receive the ENTIRE record of my DMs . Both those that I send, and those sent to me. Permission to download the DMs sent to me has already been given by the other party when they send me the message. It's implied.
I would really like it if this could be implemented in the near future. Like, by 2023, maybe?

You're out of luck, and yes the reason why you do not get the whole thing is because of privacy reasons.
When you requests your data package its only your info, Discord respects user privacy. Also you can't use your data package as a from of evidence in the future as it can be easily manipulated the legal party has to ask discord directly. Hope this help
