Maybe this could be something you could turn on for other people to see that you've read their message, but definitely not on by default. That would be horrific.

I just don't think that's needed. Dark mode is enough for me.

I don't think this is a good idea to turn off. You could accidentally click on something unsafe and that would be bad (obviously)
