Unauthorized access as well as purchases.
Today I opened my bank account and saw there was a $40 charge that went to discord, which I had no idea about. I checked if it was an active subscription, but I saw I had no active subscriptions. I then logged onto PayPal since the transaction was made through PayPal, where I saw the payment was still pending, so I cancelled it. I then changed my passwords on both Discord and PayPal, and I also contacted PayPal's resolution center requesting a refund, and then also emailed Discord's support team regarding a refund. Although these "tickets" were not very detailed. I then waited a bit, and then I suddenly got a notification on my email which stated my Discord account had been disabled due of Discord finding my account to be in violation of their Terms of Service or Community Guidelines because their records indicated there had been one or more chargebacks associated with purchases made on my account. This is because in total there were 4 different charges, $9.99 each. I then, later on, received a notification that my ticket on PayPal was answered, and when I checked it, it said that they had not detected any unauthorised activity on my account and that the ticket was closed. I searched around for a bit for ways to dispute their decision on the ticket, and then decided to message their Twitter account, in order to talk to an actual person, where the people I talked to showed great empathy towards my situation, but after reading through what I told him, he said based on what I had told him, PayPal determined that there had not been any unauthorized use of my PayPal account and that the person who caused the unauthorised charges on my card must have gotten in to my Discord account, and in that situation, PayPal is unable to take steps to issue a refund since they would have no evidence of my account being used without permission. He then told me he could only advise me to contact Discord, he said he understood they took action to suspend my account apparently due to me requesting chargebacks, but they must have a procedure for addressing unauthorized use of their platform. If not, my only other suggestion is that you consult with your financial institution to see what options they may have to dispute the payments. I then thanked him, and I then wrote an in-depth appeal to discord, also explaining the entire situation and how I would like to receive both my account and my money back. 4 hours later I received an automated response from Clyde, telling me that in order to regain access to my account, I would have to contact the payment provider associated with these charges and withdraw all open disputes within 14 days, and once they have been withdrawn I have to provide explicit confirmation by attaching a statement or a letter from my payment provider indicating that all disputes have been retracted. But it did say, I could reply to this email to forward my ticket to Discord's Trust & Safety team, which I decided to do since I felt like it would be easier to communicate with actual people, who could better help me in my specific situation. After doing that, I decided to open a separate ticket, regarding my wish of receiving a refund, although I had opened one previously, it wasn't very detailed and I wasn't even expecting a response to it. After doing this and writing an in-depth message regarding my situation, fully explaining what had happened, how someone had accessed my account and spent my money without me knowing, and a little bit about how my account got disabled, but mostly about me wishing to receive a refund, I actually got a pretty quick response from Clyde, which surprised and kind of excited me since I had to wait 4 hours to receive the other one, only to have to wait even longer for Discord's Trust & Safety team to answer, which I've read on average takes 24-48 hours. Clyde said, that to follow protocol I had to write a message including my email and the date these purchases were made, where I wrote, "I confirm I did not authorize these charges and would like to receive a refund for the purchases made on the 1st of December, 2022. For my Discord account associated with [my email] Although, I am a bit worried I will not be able to receive my money back at all,I hope the Trust & Safety team does everything they can, I am worried since on Discord's website, their refund policy section states they are unable to provide a refund for gift purchases once the gift has been claimed by either me or another user. Although, at this point, I'm just hoping they somehow make an exception since these charges were not authorised by me. Although, I realise if they are not able to provide me with a refund, I can hopefully contact my bank and they can issue me a refund. Although sadly I'm concerned this will result in me losing my discord account forever. Does anyone know if contacting my bank for a refund will result in an indefinite ban?

I just think it's annoying how I lost $40 and I'm not sure if I can even get it back, and then after trying to get it back I proceeded to lose my discord account which I have had since 2015/2016, that's a lot of old friends I will never be able to contact again, sadly. But, in all honestly, although I would prefer getting both my money and my account back, I would rather have my money than my account back, if I had to choose. This is because recently I haven't really been using Discord, or in fact my computer as a whole a lot, and when I do I practically only talk to people I know in person.

Did you ever get your $40 back ? Basically the same thing happened to me today, three $9.99 Nitro Gifts bought with my credit card and for some reason 1 failed attempt with my GCash PHP524.99 (type of payment service in my country). I didnt really have any problems with my Discord account but i changed the email linked and my password to make sure but I am still thinking how that was possible0
