Discord's glitchy invite system got me flagged for suspicious behaviour
Hi, my account got disabled because of discord being glitchy. Can I have it reinstated please? It seems wholly unfair to disable my account for something that's not my fault and had no way of knowing or preventing it.
I tried yesterday to join a server 3 times on browser by logging in from the invite page, and each time it logged me in but failed to join me. I had to join via signing in the app and then using the invite link from browser.
Then today, I get asked to join the server -which I'm now in- and after clicking accept my account gets asked to verify with phone. Once I submit my verify code it then disables my account. So what happened is the 3 invites failed to work but got "stored" for next time (why??) and then when I clicked on the one invite page it applied all three at once and blamed me for discord glitching, calling me a bot.
I've had similar issues in the past where a disboard invite failed, and then every invite after got pushed back (so I would not be in server A after its invite, but trying to join B would ask me to join A, C ask to join B,...even if I click the same invite over and over). However, I never had my account DISABLED for that.
Many people have complained that the trust and safety automated process on discord is far too stringent, much like instagram and snapchat, rendering users accountable for glitchy behaviour and making recovering accounts a struggle (e.g. if you lose an account as I did, trying to re-add friends and re-join servers gets seen as FURTHER suspicious behaviour despite being perfectly normal as a response).
I am glad I thought ahead to invite friends between places and store invites between places, as otherwise I would be cut off from many online contacts. This shouldn't happen though, and I want my old DMs back.
