I confirm 1 year later, it's really weird that it doesn't work properly when they already worked on the input text field for normal posts. I need to either Ctrl+left/right (slower as only jump from word to word) or mouse drag to highlight a line…

This is now fixed, at least on Linux desktop app Stable 263796 (739ec78)!

Regression: bug is back on Discord app for Linux:

    stable 289379 (317f5c1) Host 0.0.52 x64 Linux 64-bit (5.15.0-105-generic)

Holding shift + home/end doesn't even highlight the text.

This is soooo annoying. I constantly navigate through texts by holding down CTRL and using the cursor keys. And I also use the HOME and END keys very often.

It's basically non-functional at the moment. I am using Discord in the Browser and that's all what matters to me.

Support does not seem to care. Is there any real support out there where you can create a ticket? I already was weird creating this account because the login told me to login into Discord while I already am. Instead this is a completely different account from my Discord account with a new password now. And the login also does not work on Firefox it seems. I had to switch to Chromium.

The weirdest is that they found a fix, then reverted it, and it only happens on the forum posts… I tend to just write my posts in an external editor and then copy paste it in Discord, but it's hard to keep formatting like bold.

About Firefox login, it's unfortunately a limitation of cross-site logging, see this thread:

    https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/17913090629399-Cannot-Login-to-support-discord-com-on-Firefox

Basically, Settings > Privacy & Security > Struct prevents cross-site logging (not sure which feature it is exactly, possibly cross-site cookies in all windows). To avoid switch to Standard protection for all websites, you can just click the shield icon on the left of the URL > disable Enhance Tracking Protection just for this site.

It was also reported on https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/17913090629399-Cannot-Login-to-support-discord-com-on-Firefox

I also started using an external editor for now. And I still don't get why it's only in the forum posts. It seems not like an accident but that they changed the behaviour intentionally.
