Onboarding - Why do we need 5 channels minimum with @everyone posting permissions

Tried to setup onboarding - but it requires me to select FIVE channels that give @everyone permissions to both read and write. However, for security reasons I only allow that access in one channel.

Any sensible server would have new members come in through one channel, to be vetted as legitimate/ non-trolls, before giving them further access to the server. The 5 channels seems rather arbitrary. Why do we need this many? Can we get this changed please.

    I agree, this would be a very useful thing, but until they implement it here are some things you can do:

    1. Use a bot to give people a role when they join which restricts them
    2. have several "filler" channels which are read only and do nothing
