International Clock/Timezone Widget
I've been using Discord for several years now and when I frequent public servers and interact with people from all over the world I often wish Discord had was a sort of widget that displayed timezones like those clock arrays you'd see in an international office environment, I added a very helpful image because I'm not the best at expressing myself.
I figure that simply listing timezone information on user profiles would raise a lot of privacy concerns, not to mention annoying UX if you have to individually check each user's timezone. I think a more general implementation would avoid these issues as well as allowing making the tool more broadly applicable to conversation, for instance rather than just knowing what time it is where your friends are, it would also supplement in conversations about world events.
In regard to how/where this would be implemented into the Discord interface itself, I imagine a expanding/collapsing element just below the title bar and above most other elements. Just a universal tool visible in most uses. Perhaps this new area could be used for a dashboard for future Discord tools and widgets.
I'll just list some functions that came to mind:
- ability to add and remove clocks
- labels such as: reference cities, EST/PST/CET/etc.
- manually add users to timezones (hover over a zone to see users you added to it)
- automatically adjust to things like Daylight Savings time and whatnot
- Digital/Analog display customization
That's all I got.
