Revert changes made to mentions/reacts.
Looks terrible, fix immediately (or at least give us an option to go back to the old style)

I highly disagree with your view. This update is targeted at Accessibility users, for Accessibility users. As an Accessibility user myself, I like the current Beta version tenfold more than the Stable version. It gives users with visual impairment or disabilities more control and the ability to distinguish items from one another, not to mention how hard it is to read pings and channel names in Stable. This is in Beta for a reason — give the Devs more concrete feedback than just "It looks terrible". What does that tell them to fix? What does that tell them what looks bad?
I'm also going to re-emphasise that this is an Accessibility update. This might not float your boat, but this is being made so more users can use this platform, not just people unaffected by impairments.
EDIT: Misinformed, the tools I was using to contrast weren't updated. This isn't in Beta. I still stand by the new design and the lack of criticism though.

Flood_ this isnt in beta.

Also, they don't need to change it completely for everyone. They could do a toggle to make it easier for those with a form of visual impairment. Why force everyone to have to view these awful changes? It DOES look terrible from an average user perspective.

Wait it isn't? I don't see the changes on... oh. Apparently, my other browsers and apps I was looking at refused to update. That's a misunderstanding on my part, sorry.

You do realize what they are doing now is forcing the same thing but on the opposite end of the spectrum. So before, it was hard for visually impaired people to see things. Now they change it and make it harder for others that arent impaired. So they "fix" one thing but break another. That makes NO sense. Again, there should be a toggle for these types of things instead of forcing EVERYONE to use this. All they did was flip-flop problems and call it fixed. The devs/designers aren't the brightest crayons in the box when it comes to features/designs and it has be shown time and time again.

I think they have even changed notification colour on mobile to be gray

+1 OR have an option to change the design in the "Accessibility" tab under the "App Settings" section. Literally no one that I know asked for this redesign change.
In fact, at least for me and people that I know, reduces accessibility and readability for messages.
You were able to easily differentiate between embedded/fancy text, such as @User or #general, and regular text. Because of this change, there is barely anything that it differentiates! It all looks the same! No blue highlight or anything!
I have a welcome bot message that looked way more beautiful because the blue highlight, now it's gone!
Also when you get pinged in a message, the highlight behind the role just completely disappears, as shown in the image above and below. PLEASE Discord revert this "change" or "feature" or whatever you call it! Or make an option to change this so it isn't set to default!
You have changed something so old that once you affected it now it never looks the same nor right! It's changing the grass block texture in Minecraft to something completely different/unnatural, then expecting users to be okay with it! I really don't want to go through the effort of installing some custom discord client just to be able to have the original look of Discord.
If you wanted this change to improve "Accessibility" or "Readability" have it an option! Another example is turning on the colorblind mode on a game, even though the user doesn't have any colorblind problems. Now that user, which doesn't have colorblind problems, has to go through an avoidable problem that can't be changed now because 3% of the community were complaining that there aren't colorblind options.
Sorry for ranting, but hopefully this explains how infuriating this is!

Agree, also the new reaction outline is really jarring and ugly, please give us a way to toggle it to what it was before.

Please either revert it or make it an option to switch to. This should not be the default.
This change makes the background color and ping colors blend to my eyes, and it makes differentiating pings and channel links so much harder...
I also get paranoid every time I see something outlined thinking it is for me, and in servers with 600+ people, we have a lot of pings and channels being linked...
The contrast is extremely jarring between every single ping/link for anything compared to the normal text.

An issue I have with the new mentions is that it makes it so much more difficult to see which part of the message you were mentioned in, since there's no stark difference between the actual mention text and the normal message text.
