Arguably one of the quickest rising competitors to Discord is Guilded, who seem to have a few features that Discord currently don't have.

One of my favourite features is the capacity to layer a tiered conversation, think of this as threads within threads within threads. a feature that is very useful if discussing many parts of a single larger topic.

another advantage is the control for auto archiving, currently Discord lacks any real control over the auto archive feature to both threads and forums, a feature that Guilded has, which allows users to change between 'a few days' until 'never'. 

ToDo lists, a simple feature but one that would be really helpful for many admins who may use their servers for projects or monitoring, and possibly combine that feature with a calendar to really appeal to the working groups and project managers.

I feel there is a lot of simple quick wins to be had by simply observing the features of similar tools and adapting them accordingly for the vast server usage here.
