system to categorize users and chats (+pin)
Hey everyone,
Today I’m presenting a suggestion that could highly improve the UX (user experience) for Discord users that enjoy the platform regularly. I would love to hear your opinions on it and how it would be best implemented according to you.
Add a system to categorize users and chats.
As someone who has been active on Discord for over half a decade, I’ve met quite a lot of people in different subjects. I have also connected with other people who I might not know as well but whom I often work with.
If Discord would allow me to categorize my friendslist and/or Direct Messages then I would be able to reach out to potential candidates for a certain request much faster. Think about it as folders for private messages and/or friends.
Multiple possibilities on how to implement this:
• The one I’m currently recommending and would seem the most UX-friendly option to me: Allow me to create folders (same as for servers aka guilds) that I can organize and sort in.
• Give an extra function to the ‘notes’ box and let users create profile-bound tags that they can search when necessary.
• Create a new box and let users create profile-bound tags that they can search when necessary.
Note: profile bound tags could be created the same way that one creates a ping tag using the <@ID> method or even through a separate UI within the User Settings (similar to ‘create role’).
As everything would only be available to the user creating the system it would not impact privacy settings in any way.
