Severely unoptimized new mobile layout

I just wanted to provide feedback on the new mobile layout which, thankfully, seems to have only hit IOS phones. The layout changes the interface greatly and in my experience severely diminishes the experience.
Right now if I'm in a message or server all I need to do is swipe left and I can see all my notifications and navigate the app often with only a single additional click. Everything is visible at once, it's elegant and easy to use.
The new update meanwhile looks like Kik messenger or other cheap dying IM phone apps, which is a disappointment since I chose discord because it was better than them. If you leave a message you can only see messages and need to make extra taps on the bottom to swap between servers and DMs, adding clicks. There is also no way to see everything at once like you can on the current layout, which means you may be forced to swap between these tabs constantly to keep up with things.
I don't know who in the world thought doing this would ever be a good idea but they should honestly be fired. Every IM app I've had in my life has gone through a certain life cycle and discord has by far been the best, but if they continue to sabotage their own service like their predecessors with things like the discriminator change and this UI change I'll probably jump ship as fast as possible.
Please please please think about UI optimization. Y'all are professionals (I assume) and should be concerned with these things.

I just want to say, same here. Everything that you said. The update just hit me on Android, and it's so horrible that I actually feel like I'm panicking. I really, really want to be able to revert to how it was before this terrible update.

I constantly swap between chats and servers so this is a terrible inconvenience. I don't know why someone would want to treat them as such separate categories. It's also a lot less apparent where to go to find notifications while in a server channel. Please undo this change or give an option to select the layout. Also it keeps sending me up in the chat when I open one but I don't consider glitches a priority when the update is worse conceptually.

Came here to say: same!
I hate the new mobile messaging layout and now theres no history from before the update so I cant go back over the conversation and pull replies to things, which is sometimes really important because I'm using this to soundboard creatively a lot of the time. Suddenly i cant pull creative ideas I had previously or the reflective adjustments because its not there! Change it back please, please! I dont like it here anymore.

Here to support this, it feels like the update is only useful for occasional users that don’t need to moderate servers or anything. I wish Discord would have an option to choose the interface cause this is a nightmare. Not being able to swipe from left to right to see members easily is such a downgrade too.

There's even less room to type in now with the added gift/thread button next to the reply window.

Dreading the day my mobile app gets this update, I've heard nothing but negative things about this it. Can't imagine they really care about user feedback, if they even bothered to gather any from normal everyday users they would have received nothing but complaints.

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if it turned out that they didn't bother testing this layout prior to deployment.

Big agree. Update just hit me on Android out of nowhere, and to say I was shocked at the new look would be an understatement… the overview over media and stuff in servers and chats is nice but apart from that? Terrible! You can't even see the content in pins anymore, which renders them basically useless if you can't see the image you pinned… how am I supposed to find anything in there without tapping on EVERY SINGLE ONE…. horrible usability! Not to mention the poor overview due to the separate Servers and Chats now! God I really wish they changed it back quickly this is so bad…

It force updated on Android now too and agree, it is awful. What's with the random friends pictures appearing at the top of your DMs? Why would I want someone I've not spoken to in 5 years to be easier to get to than my active on-going conversations? It takes more taps to get places, removed years of user muscle memory, and doesn't seem to have addressed any need. As someone who works in software design, I really don't get what they were going for here.

Honestly, the main issue for me is that I can't seem to find an option hide DM previews (I have some pretty bad social anxiety). But yeah, I'm in agreement that I don't get the layout.
In any case, I actually found myself downloading an old version from a 3rd party site. (I know, I know. It's risky, but this site seems dedicated to helping users in odd situations, and I have antivirus installed on my phone. I usually avoid it in most cases, but this is one of those edge cases for me.)
